Perhaps you've finally found the perfect Bark River knife, but it's out of stock. Or in fact, the delivery time is unknown and you can't place an order. You can read exactly how that works below:
At Bark River, every knife that is made is sold in advance. A production schedule is set up whereby the major dealers and distributors can indicate how many copies of each model they want to order and with which handle material. Suppose a batch of 250 pieces of a certain model is made, and 200 pieces are immediately sent to American dealers — then you know that there are only 50 pieces left for the rest of the world.
What makes matters more complicated is the fact that some models are only made once a year, and sometimes even less often. If it's even in the same steel type as the previous batch. As a result, we cannot guarantee delivery times. We do our best to bring in as much Bark River as possible, but that simply isn't always possible. And if we do succeed, it's often the case that we get less than we would have liked, so it sells out again in no time.
This is why everything in stock on our website is actually in our own warehouse and can often be shipped the same day. Unfortunately, it does mean that back orders on models that are no longer in stock can only very rarely be filled. For this reason, it isn't possible to place an order for Bark River if the product is not in stock.
